Venice Part 2
We always got lost in Venice even with GPS and it was hard to find water taxis. Lizzie in the act…

After my tree discoveries I tried to look further afield but I found it quite hard to concentrate. So many of the works were meaningful and needed time to be spent with them which I did not really have, sadly. In the Punta della Dogana amongst the relics there was a nice Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset diving board called ‘Powerless Structures’.

At the Azerbaijan Pavilion, Laura Ford’s penguin colony was one of the few witty pieces in the whole show. It was all so, so serious, just a singular message saying look at the world and look after it or we are all screwed!

Nevertheless, all the wonderful people around did not seem perturbed by the heavy presence of these serious works. Midge Palley, Chair of Tate Patrons was thrilled with this crab on a stick.

Justine Simons from GLA had brought her friend along with a very interesting hat.

Johann König had brought his little trouper along for some relief.

We managed to celebrate Jeanne Greenberg’s birthday surrounded by all her amazing friends, Huma Baba, Lorna Simpson and Thelma Golden amongst others.

The Karma girls came with Pamela Rosenkranz who was the star of the Biennale. It does not surprise me she is in our 20 Years show also.

Her work at the Swiss Pavilion was addressing the human body and our relationship to materials. I loved this wonderful pool of skin and Lizzie thought it was a strong contrast to Charles Saatchi’s oil tank by Richard Wilson.
Venice Part 2
Frances Stark who won the Absolut Prize turned up with my art guru Marc Foxx.

She was with all her fans including Tif Zab.
