After reading the Artforum Scene and Herd, I find December 10th was a remarkable day. In parallel to the Tate hosted lunch for me and 170 Women in Art , Miuccia Prada is hanging out in a male dominated environment in Ukraine at Victor Pinchuk’s spectacular event, with the likes of Damien Hirst, Nick Serota, Jeff Koons, Andreas Gursky etc. I am not quite sure who won the prize?
Meanwhile back in London there I am with these incredible women and celebrating my BIG Birthday.
In my speech I also told everyone “there is definitely something in the air, could this be the beginning of another change?” I told these great ladies including Jenny Lomax, Tracey Emin and Sue Webster that “behind our stoic facades of intellect and image we are all very vulnerable and should be a support system to each other.”
Victor commented that “I believe in the power of women”. And Miuccia replied “Women have to decide how to use power and not continue to live in the shadow of men”.
I head to New York, it was amazing. Our first night, we were supporting Albert Oelhen’s curated show hosted by Carol Greene and her young team.
Albert was surrounded by Christopher Williams, Rachel Harrison and Jaqueline Humphries.
We spoke a great deal to Alex Tuttle and her new beau and future great artist Alex Hubbard.
Then we walked a little around the galleries. The Anslem Kiefer show at Gagosian put together by Robin Vousden was a sensation as was the Rauschenberg, his breadth of practice was astounding and a surprise to me.
We dropped into Pace to check out our most recent purchase by Keith Tyson. The works had a serenity about them, in comparison to other shows in NY, the works were set out in a harmonious order.
Then to Mitchell-Innes and Nash where we were approached by a man with a mermaid seal. To the embarrassment of the gallery, he was immediately ushered away, then I was exposed to some interesting works.
The new uber uber hot artist, no more silver paintings but white, Jacob Kassay and also Virginia Overton who I found most interesting.
A sculpture by Jacob Kassay
Virginia Overton's new work.
Back to base in Soho I spotted Gerry Judah’s show at Maureen Sarro’s gallery it was apocalyptic! Maureen has also just started representing Sean Dack- very exciting!
OMG: I’m in St Barths and I approach, all happy to see this older guy, an art dealer old friend, or so I thought and I really got the hint. I am not telling you who he is but it feels mean and creepy. I wish I was not so sensitive to this kind of thing, sometimes the art world can very uncool and cruel. Usually I am protected from this rubbish.
Feeling a little deflated I kept away from the St Barths circus where one had to hustle for an invite to one of the mega mega humongous boat parties and had a lovely time with my family and friends mainly artists, collectors, writers and musicians.
Artist Mr Brainwash who thought my Dad was like a sculpture and proceeded to take umpteen photos. He fell asleep on the sofa so many times during our trip we were naming him “Dead Dad” after the work by Ron Mueck
Here is a picture of my dad by Ali Silverstein.
Artist Dan Macmillan, friend of Vito also loved my Dad.
We were surrounded by my warm friends including Andrew Williams, Howell James, Eric Lundgren, Tierney Gearon and Dan May.
The Glimcher family came for dinner, their sailing boat Ghost had won the race around the Island and we found ourselves once again celebrating. I am very much looking forward to them joining us in London.
We danced the night away at lovely Dasha and Roman’s to the Black Eyed Peas
Another year and I decide my New Year resolution is to continue on the path I have started. I do not want to change a thing!

Now the party is over I go to rest my tired self.......in NY. The past three days I have partied non-stop and had an insane time.
We started at the ICA where Lovely Lady Alison Myners has taken over from Alan Yentob as chairman.
We were so happy; downstairs the New Contemporaries was being shown and the work we recently purchased from Cabinet by Ed Atkins was on show.
Everyone there cheering away in the crowd were so many special friends and artists.
Nasser Azam had the urge to donate to us his beautiful painting ....... to the collection so the least we could do was hang it in the ICA for all to see.
Matt William the ICA new Curator in front of Nasser’s painting with Liam.
Then it was time for Lizzie to give me my very BIG birthday cake!
And my birthday gift from the ZC team - an excellent message from S Mark Gubb!
Our DJ Tom Richards: he looked so lovely in his Black Tie worn especially for me.
Tracey Emin started us of with the dancing and everyone joined in.
Then Iwona Blaswick led the way.
Dave our famous GA and artist showing off his beer technique.
Lauren Prake looking incredibly demure.
Ed Greenacre from Rokeby was showing of his jug technique.
Also showing of her jug technique was one of our gorgeous artists in the spirit of things but it was too much for her best friend to handle.
The next day was a wonderful lunch at Tate. I apologize immediately if anyone felt left out. I tried to include all the ladies who are recently on my radar. Tracey Emin, Catherine Petitgas, Louisa Buck and headed by Frances Morris were the panel who spoke on behalf of women in the arts in the Starr Auditorium.
I gave a speech afterwards which felt a little like a ten yearly report of all that I had managed to achieve. Along the way I managed to mention about sixty women who were in the room and were definitely part of my journey. We all felt it was important to air our thoughts about Women in the Arts and it was one great big excuse to have a wonderful lunch. We had also ten token women who were men and they have asked me they remain anonymous.
Another big Birthday Cake this time presented by John Nickson and Tiqui in the fronting the crowd.
Lovely picture left to right, one of the honorary woman Rob Diament, myself, Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, Hilary Crisp, Beth Greenacre and Maureen Paley.
I caught Poppy Sebire and artist Boo Ritson happily eating their lunch.
Lovely picture of Lizzie with Anj Smith and Karen Russo.
Lovely photo of Amanda Wilkinson, Yana Peel, Elena Marano, Vikki Hugh Smith and Ann Marie Isaac.
Jenni Lomax has left the building!
Monday my last day in London and we headed off to the Olympic Park for the first special tour for our philanthropic friends lead by Candida and Yana for Outset. We were all very enthusiastic. Amongst the Smoked Salmon at Formans Sarah Weir gave a wonderful talk about all the possibilities and exciting art projects in the park then we went for a little tour and finished off with fish and chips. We started the talk in thick fog and then when we went on the tour the crystal clear blue day had emerged!!

Last week was so hectic, but I think I managed to come out on top...excuse the marathon four-day-blog, but here you go!
"Enjoy"...
I arrived in Miami on Tuesday after a pleasant trip. I dumped my bags in our apartment at the W and headed straight on out to the Rubell Collection with Lizzie and Roy.
Jason Rubell showed his collection of eight years from the age of 13 to 21 and he spotted Roy and signed his new book for him.
The first art work spotted was a pair of shoes worn by Abdullah...Miami is THE place for spotting fashion trends!
Mathew Day Jackson and a very proud Don Rubell.
We spotted some new artists...Katherine Andrews reflecting us as well as the Baldessari it was made for!
The new hot chick in town (well LA) is Kaari Upson.
I liked Analia Saban
The most interesting being Marianne Vitale.
Amir Shariat took us to see Kaz Oshiro at Perriton and we bought one of his unbelievably detailed dust paintings. Lizzie and I met Kaz for the first time.
We continued on to the White Cube party in the new Soho House which had a wonderful buzzy atmosphere we had time to talk and circulate which was very special.
Alex Logsdail, Roy and Lisa Reuben the faces of the next generation!
The next day the excitement began...
Within the first hour we spotted a Stephen Shearer and Barnaby Furnas painting at Stuart Shave’s and then Glen Ligon at Thomas Dane and the most amazing Anj Smith at Hauser and Wirth all in the first hour.
One of our friends commented why bother visiting the fair at all as the galleries are British!
Modern Institute had a very nice artist called Michael Wilkinson, another brick in the wall pictured here.
At Tanya Bonakdar we spotted a Haim Steinbach to die for hope this goes to a happy home.
We bumped into the very happy and contented Maleki boys, Fatima had given them a break!
We also bought works by Michael St John at Andrea Rosen and some great Cory Arcangel works at Team. We hope to see them in his Whitney show next year.
A wonderful photo of Andrea Rosen looking incredibly stormy against a Wolfgang Tillman's inkjet print.
I was happy to bump into Jonathan Viner and Gilbert Lloyd who I introduced to each other last year they were happily strolling around the fair together.
Breaking News!!!! Marc Glimcher announced to me that Pace are moving to London!!!!!
Barry McGee doing book signing for his friends...
The one that got away was the wonderful Jim Lambie.
Tiffany bought her first work by Garth Weiser at Casey Kaplan and Roy bought a lovely Seth Price to add to his collection.
The evening was quiet I had a lovely dinner with Zwirner Gallery oblivious of all the circus going on around us, it was very hard to hang out and chat as in previous years as there were so many random people and I had no idea who they all were, it was all a bit like a circus, I did not really enjoy this side of things.
The next day was Nada art fair which was I thought quite wonderful.
We bumped into Ron Arad who had done a talk at the Design Fair the night before... we were sad to have missed it.
NADA was excellent, still lots of discoveries to make and a very professional fair.
We discovered a lovely artist who intricately draws and sculpts collections of books called Ryan Brown with Y Gallery from NYC
The Hole had also some interesting artists, including Paper Rads' Ben Jones and his new rave doggy bench.
I am enjoying learning about Kathy’s and Meghan's program.
Tiffany loved the work of Debo Eilers at On Stellar Rays. I also thought really vibrant and good.
Loved Anya Kieler's new work with Rachel Uffner
We were lucky to acquire some more Dan Shaw–Town process drawings from Christopher Crescent for the collection. Dan was happy to be there in Miami...his work went down a storm and the booth sold out!
Tiffany and Jill take the load of before heading off to Pulse...
We were on a roll!
Pulse was very chaotic and hard to fathom. However Yossi Milo’s stand stood out to me and the Pieter Hugo work was one of the best I thought.
Angel Delgado at Nina Menocal gallery
Then Michael’s for lunch and straight to the OHWOW show in the Design District, where there were two shows, one by OhWow and their friends, another curated by the Alex Gartenfeld
Raphael had designed the signage and is seen here hanging with a Josh Tonsfeldt towel which was in Alex's show.
Both shows were really good and vibrant.
Julia Ziegler Hayes last supper works were really sad and I liked the work of Lucian Mark Smith.
We acquired another wonderful Nick Van Woert for the collection and I found a really special Nate Lowman fresh from his studio which I am happy about.
On the way out we bumped in Kon
Trubkovich which was special.
In the evening we had a very quiet evening in Mr Chow’s once again as the circus had definitely come to town.
I crawled into bed as Tiffany headed to the W with Vito, Alex Dellal and three thousand others.
Friday morning was incredibly interesting: We dropped into the Art Hong Kong launch and the awesome White Rabbit team: Judith and Paris Neilson were there in force - Lizzie Neilson (their cousin) joined them!
We visited the De La Cruz space and it looked wonderful.
They based the whole show on Carlos’ mother’s portrait painted by Dali and all around the painting was a sense of surrealism including such adored artists as Ugo Rondinone.
There were the most incredible Stingels, Kelley Walkers and Christopher Wools I have ever seen.
Outside the Cisneros collection we bumped into Simon Baker who had co-curated the show with Tanya Barson. Simon was looking super cool.
After a lovely dinner at Prime 112 there was a huge surprise waiting for me, all the gang I never had a chance to meet during the week. It was lovely and chilled with balloons and cakes saying I LOVE ANITA I was thrilled to bits.
Marriane Boesky brought Anthony Pearson with her - he is so lovely.
Josh Tonsfeldt and Terence Koh
The A team and me. The two brothers and everyone else.
Simon Christopher declaring his undying love for me.
Finally Lizzie and a very happy me!!!
However I must say there were some friends missing and you know who you are and I am really sorry you were not with me but I hope you can make it this Thursday...!!!!
