About

Baldessari’s practice occupies the areas between conceptual, abstract and minimal art and frequently incorporates a humorous or playful aspect. Works in the IntersectionSeries are composed of two seemingly unrelated and arbitrarily chosen images, which Baldessari brings together to create a third image at the point of intersection. He then intervenes in this layered section with brightly coloured negative spaces, in this case with the colours of the spectrum to create a rainbow. The overlapping area has a dual identity: it belongs partly to both axes and fully to neither one of them.
