GIRLS ON FILM: GENDER AND PERFORMANCE
On the occasion of Laurel Nakadate's solo exhibition, this symposium examines the performance and representation of adolescence and sexuality in video and photography from the 1970s to present day. Speakers will discuss the apparent demise of feminism, the influence of consumerism and pop culture, exploitation and pornography and the ethics of collaboration. Speakers include Dr Gavin Butt (Goldsmiths College), Pamela Church-Gibson (London College of Fashion), Dr Catherine Grant (Courtauld Institute and Goldsmiths College), and Professor Gill Perry (Open University).
