Zabludowicz Collection and Hub Culture: creative partnership for Global Climate Summits
Tuesday 16 November 2010
Zabludowicz Collection is pleased to announce a creative partnership with Hub Culture featuring Finnish artist Antti Laitinen. In the summer of 2010, Antti Laitinen constructed a vessel made of bark collected from the forest floor in Finland and sailed it across the Baltic Sea from the northern part of Finland to the shores of Estonia. His resulting video tracks this lone sea voyage. This work will be screened in moments of repose in the Hub Culture Pavillions at the Climate Change conferences in California (Nov 2010), Cancún (29 Nov-10 Dec 2010) and Davos (26-30 Jan 2011), allowing moments of reflection on humankinds relationship to nature.
Hub Culture is a social network service that operates the global currency Ven, and is the first to merge online and physical world environments. It was founded in November 2002. The Hub Culture group of companies is privately held with offices in Bermuda, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, San Francisco and Singapore. Dedicated representatives are in over 60 locations worldwide, and a network of Pavilions in key global cities and moments help to foster this collaboration. As of November 2010, Hub Culture lists over 20,000 members and has exchanged over 2 million units of its carbon-backed global currency, Ven.

Hub Culture has launched a Global Pavilion at the Governors’ Global Climate Summit 3 at the University of California Davis, running from 15-17 November 2010. The initiative includes a collaboration group online at HubCulture.com, a 10,000 sqf Pavilion alongside the event, and social media interviews with many of the Summit's leading personalities. As a part of the Global Pavilion,
The GGCS 3, hosted by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, promises compelling climate conversations from the top leaders of local, regional, national and international entities, as well as those from academia, business and nonprofit sectors. Over 2000 attendees are discussing the building blocks of the green economy. Hub Culture has once again been invited to collaborate by using the Pavilion concept and interface as a platform for social media interviews with a number of leaders, ranging from Deepak Chopra and Harrison Ford to visiting students from Nigeria and Governors from sub-national entities around the planet.
The summit will continue to broaden partnerships through an increased understanding of our unique environmental and economic challenges as we continue to grow a clean, green economy. GGCS3 serves as a forum to learn best practices, share ideas and collaborate on projects to see first-hand how our actions at the subnational level can drive national and international climate negotiations.Primary partners at the GGCS3 include the Aga Khan Development Network, BMW Group, Chevron, Cisco and others.
