Zabludowicz Collection announces ‘Invites’ series

Zabludowicz Collection announces ‘Invites’ series

Tuesday 20 December 2011

The Zabludowicz Collection is delighted to present Zabludowicz Collection Invites, a new initiative dedicated to presenting young, UK-based artists who are not currently represented by a UK gallery. Taking the form of eleven monthly solo presentations, the exhibitions will result from an open-ended invitation to exhibit or produce new work.

The Zabludowicz Collection is committed to supporting emerging artists at key moments in their careers, by acquiring, commissioning and exhibiting works in London, New York and Sarvisalo, Finland. Of crucial importance to this commitment is a mission to support artists in the development of their practice and careers, which extends beyond collecting works.

The period in which an artist is not represented by a commercial gallery is of particular interest, as it represents a moment when the artist can create without the pressures of a market. The openended invitation to show at the Zabludowicz Collection is accompanied by the curatorial support and material resources provided by the Collection. Artists have been selected as a result of extensive studio visits by the curators at the Zabludowicz Collection.

Zabludowicz Collection Invites will also mean that for the first time, the Zabludowicz Collection remains open all year round. Visitors will be able to make use of all the resources offered at the Collection’s home in Camden: a café, library and meeting room, and a shop selling art publications and editions. This step further realises the Collection’s potential as a significant art institution for London.

Each instalment of Zabludowicz Collection Invites will be launched on the first Thursday of its run, with a special evening viewing from 7 to 9pm. Each show will feature new writing about the artist and a downloadable interview on zabludowiczcollection.com

Zabludowicz Collection Invites is curated by Ellen Mara De Wachter, Curator at the Zabludowicz Collection
