Collecting the Emerging symposium - Part 1

Collecting the Emerging is a two day symposium with academics, curators, collectors and artists to examine issues around collecting new and experimental art. With ever increasing interest in and opportunities for artists in the early stages of their careers, this event will investigate what the term ‘emerging’ means in relationship to contemporary art and its wider historical context. Discussions will cover economic and aesthetic value in the emerging art market; explore emerging practice and its relationship to historical narratives, archives and taxonomies; and consider how the current enthusiasm for collecting contemporary art impacts on practices that are still at a formative stage.

This event is a partnership between Zabludowicz Collection and UCL Art Museum.
