About

As part of their current exhibition, A Minute Ago, students from the MA Performance Design and Practice course at Central St Martins devise new performances.

Delia Boyano, After Zurbarán: Santa Emerenciana

The project After Zurbarán draws from the series of canvasses by the baroque painter Francisco de Zurbarán, known as ‘The Saints of Zurbarán’. In this series de Zurbaran portrays ecclesiastical female figures on their way to heaven. Boyano reflects on the notion of transitory processes, and on the tension between the mundane and the celestial.

The project consists of twelve performances comprising video projection with corresponding live actions, which will each be performed just once in the space during the six weeks of the exhibition. After each performance, the video projection will remain in place until the following performance.
