April: Part One

25 April 2018

We head to Finland for solo shows by Grayson Perry and Secundino Hernández

April: Part One
First stop is Grayson Perry’s ‘Folk Wisdom’ at Kiasma, definitely a must see! It was a real treat to spend some time with him
April: Part One
The works on display were brilliant – ‘Poverty Chinoiserie’, 2003 was my favourite

He even had time to give a lecture to a jam-packed auditorium

I was proud to be British and Grayson was pleased with his show!

The next day it was the opening of Secundino Hernández at Taidehalli, there was a strong selection of paintings. Here are two works from 2012 we loaned for the exhibition – ‘Exclamation mark Painting’ and ‘Double question mark Painting’

There were lovely dinners and lunches celebrating Hernández’s opening

Finnish Collector Timo Miettinen showed us around his home where he has this magnificent Hernández on display

I then swapped the city for the countryside. So happy to catch up with my old favourites - Keith Tyson next to Anj Smith. Coincidentally they are both showing at Hauser & Wirth Zurich

Then it was home to London to catch up with Ericka Beckman’s ‘Hiatus’, 1999-2015

And to feel the warmth of the glowing heat in Beckman’s ‘Cinderella’ installation at our gallery
