We arrive at Bauer Au Lac just in time for the opening of Ida Ekblad’s ‘The Jinxed Portrait’ 2026 and it is all so cool. A lovely day for a change - no rain which made it all very special. We also admire Ida’s striped benches in the back ground
Then we are off to Basel where we head straight to Liste art fair where Dan Vogt is showing some intriguing work at Kin Gallery
I liked Miyabi at Gallery Ver - the paintings were all very different and painted in traditional ways by a young artist
Nice work at Cibrián by Margaux Moonen Guillaume. Layered textiles with pencil shavings
Was lovely to introduce two excellent gallerists - Judy Lubke from Eigen Art and Niru Ratman – some how they had never met before
I liked Niru’s artist Chathuri Nissansala
I really enjoyed Erin Calla Wilson’s display, BRAD at Ehrlich Steinberg. The deeply researched project depicts environments based on r/malelivingspace - a subreddit for men to share and discuss their homes - Calla Wilson digitally constructs and then intervenes within these spaces by adding strange objects - in this case plushie Beanie Babies which bring a tenderness that seems to undermine the masculinity. The video works are clips of female models wearing prosthetic pregnancy bellies. These works were my most exciting discoveries at Art Basel
I met Rose Ras at Vin Vin and thought there was a special touch to her work
It was great to art was being worn in all different guises and it was not just on the walls. This lady adorning a gorgeous Louisa Gagliardi coat
I also loved Ema from the excellent Xxijra Hii Gallery Deptford in her ZC Joey Holder edition shirt 👾
The work by Vincent Scheers at Paulina Caspari was definitely a work to be investigated
We bumped into Trevor Paglen who had curated the Art Basel ‘Zero 10’ in one of the main halls with Tom Bull and Tif Zab fresh from their Times Square Space collab
Then my favourite moment with my art family Don and Mera Rubell. Always full of wisdom and advice
