We head to Berlin – first off we drop in to see a wonderful show curated by Eugenio Rebaudengo. We loved this work by Glenn Brown ‘when the satellite sings’ from 2024
Also this captivating painting ‘We taste what we predict’ by Joseph Jaeger
Little Kai Kai went to visit Aunt Tiffany and get into her new curatorial adventure: TygerTyger, they are in the midst of installation at St Elizabeth Kirche
It was great to see Benedikt Taschen and Max Hetzler showing their support for these two amazing women
The opening “I Sought My Soul” had a great turn out. The exhibition was striking with so much to see and discover in an old church in Mitte
As I arrive, I bump into Tiffany’s mentor, Klaus Biesenbach and artist from the show, Mire Lee
Here is a photograph of our best mate Marianna Simnett taking a wow photo of Team TygerTyger, AKA Anneli Botz and Tiffany Zab. Hope I get to see that pic!
Great artists were there, including Christopher Kulendran Thomas who is presenting a show in MOMA this Autumn and Simon Denny whose work needs no introduction, both stopped by to show their support
The works of Lu Yang were placed dramatically in a dark cavernous Annex shifting boundaries between body and consciousness. At the core of the recent work is the digital avatar DOKU drawing inspiration from Japanese manga, gaming culture, and science fiction but suffused with Buddhism as its core value
Collector and gallerist Ryan Stern came to pay his respects
In the three weeks they were opened welcomed 2500 visitors. They borrowed a couple of works from the Zabludowicz Collection. My favourite Marguerite Humeau work drawing from biology and evolution, in front of a stunning Ariana Papademetropoulos’ painting, ‘Sonoluminescence’ that shows a bubble floating in the foreground, her works encompass film and theatre drawing from different origins
Our beloved Anne Imhof drawings held the room, and looked stunning
I loved the two Qualesha Wood works Juxtaposed, The Jaquard tapestry ‘Accountability Readme’ which is so positive and all about self-pride, shown next to ‘Gives Me the Heebiejeebies’ a tufted work steeped in anti-black prejudice – in front and next to Mire Lee’s material experiments in space, and an intricate Petra Cortright’s digital painting ‘Starcraft maps’ Super Lotto Taste of California wine clubs’
There were a number of great works by Jean-Marie Appriou, with imaginative sources drawing inspiration from the past and the future to unfold into symbolic and dream like portraits
Back in London it was a joy to visit Richard Hunt show at White cube it was a sensational show. One of the greatest sculpturers I have ever seen. I loved this work
I also visited Israel, and in a way I wish I had not. It was very painful to visit the site of the NOVA festival which now has fields and fields of ceramic poppies. It is now one big memorial to all the innocent children murdered. There are hundreds of stories of the dead heroes who tried to save the friends as the sun rose on that ill-fated morning of October 7th 2023
