Frieze Part 1

16 October 2013

The week started famously with me providing Jenni Lomax at Camden Arts Centre a helping hand at their Camden Cookout.

Raphael Hefti brought amazing cheese from Switzerland that same day for desert.

Aaron McPeake performed a series of metal pours in the garden to produce beautiful bronze bells and tin pencil auction lots. The pouring of the luminous molten red liquid was incredible to watch. It was a startling procedure.

Cornelia Parker designed the first course and Chantal Joffe the second. Here’s Chantal presenting me with her tasty dish!
Frieze Part 1
Ann Hardy designed the flowers with a number hand-picked from the garden and I, with the help of Jenni was the auctioneer. Many of the artists including Andy Holden, Chantal Joffe, Nogah Engler and Antony Gormley had very generously given works.

The next morning I was heading to the beautiful shiny space at Marlborough Contemporary where I was greeted by resident Cuban artist Diango Hernández and Andrew Renton. The show was really engaging and aesthetically pleasing.
Frieze Part 1
A quick whistle stop to Nigel Cooke at Modern Art. The story continues to unveil! All the artists are dead, the weeds are coming up, everyone is either buried or growing from the ground but what happens next? Can't wait for the retrospective at Tate Britain 2050!
Frieze Part 1
Dropped into White Cube and a Fiji bottle awaited me enclosed in a majestic glass case. The definitive question of is it art or not art? once again arises. The answer this time: ART!! by the man of shelves Haim Steinbach.

Everyone arrived into town, the American Jeff Elrod, currently showing at Simon Lee Gallery with Roland Augustine.
