We head to Hypha where Cathy Wills had curated an array of wonderful art works. We were immediately attracted to this zoomorphic vessel sculpture ‘Caelifara’ by Cas Campbell – I thought it was wonderful. The artist is considering adaptive camouflage and how it connects all life forms that attempt to survive in hostile environments
There were other interesting works such as the ‘Fecund Grayling Pink Nymph’ by Anna Reading. Full of Buddleia stems, shells, sand and plaster
We headed to Echo Soho – an initiative by India Rose James foregrounding female founded art galleries. It was very ambitious and successful. My friend Sophie Sofer had braved it and literally taken her residency work from Kentish Town to Soho the back of a lorry
I liked this work as it explains so much at this moment. ‘Your from Heaven I’m from Britain’ by Corbin Shaw - one of a group of collages by Shaw shown Sophie Sofer’s Fores Project in the back of her lorry
I liked the stem work by Alicja Baia cast in bronze from Berntson Bhattacharjee who also won the best booth at Echo
At Alice Amati we liked the work by Sophie Birch
Also Rachel Clancy’s work from Pipeline Contemporary
Then we met the AWITA and they had so many great artists including one of our fave Invites aulmnus - Fani Parali
Sadly this artist Jane Harris had passed away but the work was so beautifully painted
I loved the work by Jyll Bradley and frustrated I never got to see her show at the Box in Plymouth
At Alice Black Gallery it was a treat to be introduced to the work of Rachael Louise Bailey. Behind a plastic oyster sack curtains was a bronze oyster shell which looks like a human ear. ‘Hear no, See no’
On our way out in the Sarabande Foundation’s House of Bandits we spot ‘The Crab Girl Escaped from the Freakshow’ by Giulia Grillo
Then it was time to visit the galleries - at Pippy Holdsworth. We loved the work of Shaqúelle Whyte ‘Blackbirds singing in the dead of night’
A new discovery by Seba Calfuqueo
Outside the Gallery was a wonderful Philip Colbert to wave me goodnight … or maybe he is waiting for Crab Girl
Finally the highlight was visiting Kerry James Marshall at the Royal Academy. It was great to see these wonderous works
Every work was a gem so colourful and wonderous. Every painting was beautiful
