2 August 2012

Things have quietened down on my side. I am even thinking of taking a bit of a break, I did not even get to documenta.

July
I made it to the Britain Creates Fashion and art at the Old Selfridges hotel, where Rob Diament was my table host and there were amazing collaborations such as Mary Katrantzou and Mark Titchner.
July
Jeremy Deller and Giles Deacon, it was good to see that art and fashion were making an effort to work together.

Then our new wonderful show Troubling Space: the Summer Sessions -where Natasha Llorens and Helga Christoffersen’s proposal, chosen by a fantastic panel, including Chris Dercon, Maria Lind and Martin Herbert, won the chance to curate a show using our collection. With a big helping hand from our curatorial team at 176 a great show has been produced. The collection looked amazing, we walked into Haegue Yang’s Medicine Men.

Here is Natasha with furniture designer Emil Krøyer taking a break in the social section of the show.
July
Jin Shi’s brilliant Karaoke bicycle in front of the Caragh Thuring’s paintings. I also recommend to take a peek at the magical works of Miri Segal and Francis Alys upstairs.
July
On the same evening was the opening night for Invites where Yelena Popova had pulled off an amazing and beautiful installation - definitely worth the visit. She is unrepresented in the UK like all the artists in Invites. Richard Wentworth with Yelena and one of his students and Ellen.

This week was a spectacular week for the Legacy List. Wendy Fisher, Carolyn Ward, Maya Hoffman, Peter Dubens and I were all given Freedom of the City at the Guildhall for all we have achieved in London’s East End. We were all very proud to have this award bestowed upon us - we can now lead our sheep over Tower Bridge without the tolls!

Then it was visiting a show Peter Fleissig curated called Still at Frith Street Gallery. It had a sensitive and understated touch to it. I liked in particular the work of Rodney Dickson, but there were also many other interesting artists I had never seen before.
July
A quick visit to Finland for some warm sunshine, vodka and freezing cold sea. Peter’s boys Silas and Leo pose in front of the Richard Woods’ house.
July
I have had the privilege of seeing some of the most creative moments of my life. First stop a spectacular party in Tate Modern Tanks where Lyle my new friend shows me his moves.
July
And Flo Rida shows us his moves.
