My Frieze highlights (without stepping into the tent...)
11 October 2024
Sadly during Frieze I was sick and on my back - unknown to me it was Covid - but I attentively watched everything through the eyes of others. Olivia and Tif were in town so they were able to help – and of course Lizzie more than did the rounds. So much was spotted. Here are some of my favourites: I love this strange looking stone and metal creature
Lindsey Mendick had made an array of abject yet desirable perfume bottles of all sizes at Carl Freedman Gallery
Each bottle was a gem
Each one unique and special
Daniele Toneatti at Peres Projects was a new shining star ready to plucked from the sky
Loved this magical sculpture by Rebecca Warren at Max Hetzler
This peculiar work by Nils-Alix Tabeling at Public Gallery was very interesting and beguiling. So many processes to enjoy
Camden Art Centre were out in full force to present their Frieze prize which was an exciting moment lead by Martin Clark. London-based artist Nat Faulkner showing with Brunette Coleman in the Focus section, will have a solo exhibition at Camden Art Centre in 2025
At Lehman Maupin Billy Childish was working away creating some enchanting new work in a showstopping way
Julia Greenway & Libby Heaney - so much style and attitude!
Even this Horse had attitude
And EVERYONE loved the penguins - they were all over social media – Lizzie got all the info on The birds (2017), a sculptural work by Danish artist Benedikte Bjerre from the lovely Gitte at Palace Enterprise from Copenhagen
It seems Lee Lozano at Hauser and Wirth was the best stand in Frieze Masters
and this wonderful juxtaposition of Guston and Calder
Then when I gathered enough strength I took myself to the clinic with Liam for hydration and some extra vitamins to help me feel better
