Back in London and we are ready to open ‘Among the Machines’! Jake Elwes stands next his work ‘Zizi – Queering the Dataset’ which is so awesome. Jake is challenging gender by retaining artificial intelligences with images of drag performers. It immediately gets into the swing of it!

Joey Holder’s creature question the universe and things yet unknown. She is exploring biology as a kind of alien encounter
I loved these works by Marguerite Humeau and Aleksandra Domanović which look at the intersection of animals, humans and organisms and how they might evolve in time

Then it was back to exploring! First stop was Edel Assanti where we saw the work of artist Anna Perach who makes wearable structures. Anna was looking at Slavic folklore, mythologies, fairytales and psychoanalytic theory
‘Spidora’ is a great show, my favourite was the ‘Sack of Body Parts’
We visited ‘Enclosure’ at Pilar Corrias by Rachel Rose for the third time now. First at LUMA Arles, then at Gladstone Gallery in New York now at Pilar Corrias. Every time it gets better and better. The loop sculptures are composed of single materials, one of glass, and one a mineral. I find these sculptures fascinating
I love these paintings which are agricultural landscapes from in the 18th century which have been interfered with to create a surreal and mystical atmosphere, often imposing a black moon on the surface
I dropped into see Titus Kaphar at Gagosian where the artist had reconstructed Black history using religion as his main subject matter
At Thaddeus Ropac we saw the work of a wonderful artist Rosemarie Castoro, whose gestural brush strokes were mesmerising. I was with my two art buddies Vanessa Jossell and Carol Sopher
Then to finish, it was a hop, skip and a jump to Margate. We visited Guy Oliver at Quench, who showed us some of Lindsey Mendick’s beautiful new ceramic sculptures
I also loved Olivia Sterling’s work
There was even a work dedicated to Guy, a figure of him sleeping in a sardine can!
Now I am getting ready for Venice for the first time since 2019, with lil’sis Yana - here we go!
