I am so happy to see Hurvin Anderson’s exhibition at Tate Britain, with over 80 works spanning his career. We are proud to see our loan, 'Peter’s Sitters II' on view
We are also delighted to support with the loan of 'Siding'
Everyone came to see the show; it became a space of discourse and intrigue
I loved the work of Grace Jones descending a staircase
This was followed by a superb bash at Ivor Braka’s magnificent Knightsbridge home. Hurvin even said a few words, which felt especially notable, as he is a man of few words, much like the quiet subtlety and expressive restraint of his paintings
The same week, at the Serpentine, Picture Making by Cecily Brown offered a vivid, intense, and immersive experience, with vigorous brushwork, vivid colour, and dynamic compositions throughout
Hans Ulrich Obrist opened the work with Cecily Brown he was clearly delighted
The next day was especially memorable at Opera Gallery, where the crowds and influencers were heaving, with hundreds queuing to see the wonderful porcelain works by Sandra Sashou
At JW3, Sandra unveiled The Lovelock Hostage Bridge, a commission comprising hundreds of padlocks installed along the bridge, each bearing the name of a hostage. She had been invited to create a sculpture in situ
Then I was off to New York. For the first time, I visited the ICP, the International Center of Photography. I was particularly drawn to the work of Ivorian artist Eboro, whose practice brought together beauty, style, and colour in a compelling way. Through the use of multiple mediums, he explored the different paths and trajectories of life
At the new Gallery Sardine, Peter Fleissig and I loved Joline Wakkenbos’s 'Sapphic in the Field.' The work was truly beautiful
We also loved 'Britt Bringing Egg.' Joline draws on clothing from historical periods, infusing it with a subtle theatricality, often using herself as the sitter
