I say goodbye to my lovely Serpentine gang who were great fun to be with, lead by Anthonia Grosse
As we entered the Petit Palais we were welcomed by the bride and groom!
It was wonderful to have the show of Walter Richard Sickert all to ourselves. The work was so experimental and the breadth of work was vast. A lovely portrait of Peggy Ashcroft taken from a black and white photograph published in radio times 1934
On my way out, I spotted an installation of sculptures by Ugo Rondinone titled ‘The water is a poem unwritten by the air no. The earth is a poem unwritten by the fire.’ The sculptures were quite sad
We then took a trip to Musee D’Orsay where flying around on a panoramic screen were a flock of exotic parakeets, who seemed to have never left the urban centres. This ambitious work was by Cyprian Galliard
We then had a wonderful lunch at Le Maurice with the BFAMI team, which was sponsored by Sothebys. During the meal, Hazel announced that our PM was no longer Liz Truss
I landed in New York and found myself at a grand dinner for AFIM in the Plaza where Dennis Weil interviewed the fascinating Doug Aitkins
It was Olivia’s birthday and she chose to treat us all to see Wolfgang Tillman’s ‘Concorde Grid’. We donated one set to the Tate, another in our collection and this set is in the MoMA. It was an exciting moment

Then a quick visit to the Shed where we were the first visitors in to see Maxwell Alexandre
The installation was magnificent. There wasn’t any digital work, no screens or moving image, no sound, just atmosphere and incredible content. The works used brown craft paper and presented people of mixed race
I dropped in to visit the show ‘Take Home a Nude’ which was used to fund the New York Academy of Art. Tracey Emin had contributed a magnificent neon artwork
Meanwhile back at Valo Park was my secret project where Jean Marie Appriou’s camels were happily walking around the park
Mustafa Halusi’s magnificent fruit was quenching everyone’s thirst on the way to the café
Peter Flessig and friends dropped by to say hello and admire a wonderful David Schnell work
It was lovely to see the Masakatsu Kondo. He is a truly magnificent artist
Then we headed to the Rubell’s new space and it was wonderful to be met by Don and Mera who were very proud of what they have achieved
I remember these lovely legs by Tschabalala Self
We bump into Cajsa von Zeipel and her ambitious sculpture in the basement
It was fascinating to study the faces on the sculptures
We dropped into the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden where there was a wonderful show of 30 female artists which included Christina Quarles
Also part of the show was Emily Mae Smith. It was then time to go back to New York
