SUMMER SOLOS

15 July 2014

I find myself once again back in New York for a very very quick visit. It is Ron and Jen Beller's special party and they decide to dazzle us in Brooklyn with an amazing display of performance art, a mini New York Performa for the night.

SUMMER SOLOS
Great picture of myself, Tate Trustee John Studzinski and Jen dressed in all different versions of ‘Hipster’.
SUMMER SOLOS
Artist’s John Downing and Bob Afede were performing something usually seen in the glitzy places of St. Tropez and not Brooklyn.
SUMMER SOLOS
Then it was a quick check in to a few galleries. On my first visit to Eli Ping Frances Perkins Gallery I was fascinated by Dena Yago, the work was so sad and thoughtful.
SUMMER SOLOS
Dropped into American Contemporary where I spotted some iconic and stunning Jean-Baptiste Bernadet works.
SUMMER SOLOS
I loved the work of Evan Robarts at The Hole.
SUMMER SOLOS
Another Robarts.
SUMMER SOLOS
Then it was straight back home for our amazing opening of 4 solo exhibitions and ‘Invites.’ Adriano Costa making his last minute adjustments.
SUMMER SOLOS
As was Michael E. Smith who happily explained the narrative of the piece next to him; a man jumping off the balcony!
SUMMER SOLOS
With Sam Falls’ Finland residency and gallery installation finished it gave a bit of time for a lovely lunch in the garden. Great snap of Michael E. Smith and Sam.
SUMMER SOLOS
Mendes Wood boys relaxing.
SUMMER SOLOS
Tiqui Atencio Demirdjian hanging out with James Lingwood and Alexandre da Cunha in front of the garden shed!
SUMMER SOLOS
Finally and totally relaxed, Samara Scott and Sam Moore take a dip.
SUMMER SOLOS
Then the opening! Rachel Pimm’s proudly showing me her stunning and intriguing installation.
SUMMER SOLOS
The night was a big success and a great crowd attended. The artists were thrilled to bits. Caragh Thuring, Nicolas Deshayes and Stuart Shave came to cheer Erin Falls and Sam on. His installation is beyond stunning.
SUMMER SOLOS
The work of Michael E. Smith is so fascinating and arresting. A ‘no sound piece’ created by placing a few very strange empty gas containers in a row.
SUMMER SOLOS
A dogs head seemingly embalmed in the body of Mr Potato Head.
SUMMER SOLOS
Samara’s work is a crowd show stopper. She uses all manner of materials and chemicals to create her works; nail varnish, toilet paper, shampoo…..
