About

Andro Wekua's work plays with the past, merging it with fiction to create worlds full of ambiguity and intrigue. Drawing on the memories of his childhood in Georgia and his adult life in central Europe, Wekua uses the political concerns of his homeland to contextualize his work, but the essence of his focus is auto-biographical: illustrating a thoughtful vision of an indistinguishable place, hovering between East and West, real and surreal, alluring and appalling.
