About
Brooklyn-based painter Grace Weaver populates her large scale canvasses with simplified curvaceous young people whose energy and activities are often synonymous with a western urban lifestyle. Their white bodies driven by, as much as driving, city life. Sometimes, as in the works collected here, these bodies are in repose, multi-tasking even in their leisure time. Forward facing as they lift a spoon of yogurt to their faces in their athleisure wear. Poised for the viewer as if in an advert. Their simple blank faces giving very little away. Grace Weaver graduated with an MFA from the Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond in 2015.
