About

Petra Cortright’s practice is rooted in the vernacular of the internet—using everyday digital tools, stock imagery and layered software processes to construct what she calls “paintings.” These compositions are then translated into physical form, printed onto clear acrylic and mounted to create depth, reflection and material presence.

In let’s go+kick.rom, floating GIF-like fragments, clip-art icons, and gestural marks hover across layered surfaces, producing a shifting, almost stereoscopic field. The work draws attention to the incidental aesthetics of the screen, while reactivating them within a physical, spatial encounter.

Balancing digital ephemerality with tactile form, Cortright’s works question how images move between screen and object. While often framed within post-internet discourse, her compositions also return to longstanding painterly concerns: landscape, portraiture and still life—reimagined through the logic of contemporary image culture.
