About

Stewart Uoo studied painting in his native California and then undertook the Meisterschule, at Städelschule in Frankfurt, he is known for his material investigations that speak to pop culture, fashion, sci-fi, and queer culture. Known for his mannikins and hanging barrier sculptures, Uoo also works with photography, creating atmospheric groups of works reminiscent of fashion editorials.

These two figures, both titled Don't Touch Me, 2017 exude an apocalyptic cyborg charm, their limbs truncated and burnt, wires and wigs melt into and emerge from their plastic bodies. In an age where identity is fluid and throw away these sculptures appear like future fossils.
