Master Class: Judith Bernstein
Zabludowicz Collection, London
1 February 2020

For over fifty years, Judith Bernstein (b. 1942, Newark, NJ) has developed a reputation as one of her generation’s most seminal and provocative artists, connecting the political and sexual. Bernstein’s expressive drawings and paintings boldly critique militarism and machismo in a manner that is at once humorous and threatening.

She received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2016, and will present an anti-Trump exhibition, “Money Shot,” in 2020 at The Box LA. Recent solo exhibitions include Foksal Gallery Foundation, Warsaw, Poland (2019); Karma International, Zurich (2019); Drawing Center, NY (2017); Kasmin Gallery, NY (2017); The Box, LA (2017); Mary Boone, NY (2016); Kunsthall Stavanger, Norway (2016), Studio Voltaire, London (2014), Gavin Brown’s Enterprise, New York (2014), New Museum, New York (2012). Group shows include: Bonner Kunstverein, Bonn, Germany (2019); Smithsonian Museum, D.C. (2019); Whitney Museum, NY (2016).
