Opening on the 23rd March at the Yuz Project Space of Art in the Yuz Museum, ‘Cell Echo’ is Donna Huanca’s first solo exhibition in mainland China. Located along the West Bund in Xuhui District in Shanghai, the Yuz Museum is a huge 9,000 square meter space, non-profit organization under the umbrella of the Yuz Foundation. Working with materials such as sand, clay and turmeric and exploring live performance, painting, sculpture and textiles, in ‘Cell Echo’ Donna Huanca will ‘extend her visual language through a new series of works including paintings, sculpture, video and performance, building a terrain which echoes itself’.

Donna Huanca’s SCAR CYMBALS was the 2016 annual commission at the Zabludowicz Collection. Her first UK solo exhibition was a performance-led commission in the space, with painted models activating daily a series of new site-responsive architectural and sculptural installations in the 19th century former Methodist chapel.

‘Cell Echo’ at the Yuz Museum continues until 3rd June 2018.
