Congratulations to our 2015 Annual Commission artist Jon Rafman, who has been nominated for this year's Sobey Art Award. The annual award is the Canadian equivalent to the Tuner Prize, recognising exceptional talent in a contemporary artist aged under 40 with a cash prize of $50,000. Jon Rafman is nominated alongside Lisa Lipton, Abbas Akhavan, Sarah Anne Johnson and Raymond Boisjoly. Each artist will exhibit as part of the Sobey Shortlist Exhibition at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia from 26 September 2015, with the winner being announced on 28 October.

Jon Rafman makes environments, films, photographs and sculptures that examine the blurring of the real and virtual. He has been commissioned by the Zabludowicz Collection to produce a major new solo exhibition opening in October 2015.
