Lindsey Mendick and Jamie Fitzpatrick’s exhibition SMUT opens at VITRINE, Basel

Following her recent Invites exhibition at Zabludowicz Collection, Lindsey Mendick presents a new collection of works alongside Jamie Fitzpatrick at VITRINE in Basel, Switzerland. The exhibition’s opening coincides with Art Basel 2018 and will run until 2 September. For SMUT, Jamie Fitzpatrick and Lindsey Mendick elaborated on their shared interest in The Wallace Collection’s French 18th-century romantic paintings and porcelain figurines. These opulent motifs guide each artists’ investigation of questions around gender, as well as high and low cultural histories. Similarly to her Invites exhibition, Mendrick’s new body of work is primarily composed of ceramic, painted wood and fabric.
