Next Stop LA
I was in LA when I heard the sad news from the East Coast that the wonderful and prolific Betty Woodman passed away
Next Stop LA
My first stop is a visit to my art guru Marc Foxx and within seconds we are deep in conversation
Next Stop LA
I am on a research trip for Daata Editions with David Gryn and we discover many production companies in Dennis Hopper’s old home – Venice, CA. Over at Wevr Ramiro Duran shows me their wonderfully interactive, intensively pixelated and seamless Virtual Reality game. I was caught in a beautiful forest with some cute little elves looking for their chestnuts

In contrast I visited Praz-Delavallade gallery where abstract artist Alexander Kroll opened his show, full of those LA colours which he added to his palette after moving there
Next Stop LA
We had a lovely visit to Cherry and Martin where Phillip Martin proudly showed us his new ceramic artist Adam Silverman
Next Stop LA
And a lovely display of Tomory Dodge in his second gallery. Here we are in front of ‘Night Sky’, 2016

I guess the highlight of my art quest in LA was visiting the new Marciano Art Foundation, where there was so much in common with the Zabludowicz Collection. Their collection was as eclectic as ours, full of many contrasts such as Takashi Murakami
Next Stop LA
To artists such as Allora & Calzadilla

Back at home in London we have a work by the duo on show

Then it was back to LAX airport where I was on my way to London. I stood under Mark Bradford’s wonderful monolithic sculpture ‘Bell Tower’ - looking like a relic of information screens collaged with old worn out posters
