Born in 1984, Chester, UK. Lives and works in London.
Hannah Perry is a British artist working with installation, sculpture, sound, and video. Her work draws on broad networks of experience, from the intimacy of the underground creative scenes she is a part of, to the influence of international trends in music and fashion. Creating, adopting and assembling imagery from her own life, advertising, and various subcultures, she references personal and collective memories to build a portrait of contemporary consciousness. Desires, especially those related to femininity, are at once celebrated and isolated, allowing the implications of relationships moulded by networked technology and lifestyle branding to alternate between the aspirational and the duplicitous. The body performs multiple roles as a symbol within her visual language, a medium of expression in her collaborations with dancers and choreographeras, and a vehicle of experience for the audience.
