Overton’s sculptural works often are produced from materials scavenged from the locations in which they are exhibited. Her make do and reinvent aesthetic therefore reference the location of both their production and reception. Techniques of balance and measurement are often seen in her works which use inert materials to invoke visceral or sexually charged reponses from the viewer. Overton was born 1971, in Nashville, TN. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY she holds an BFA and MFA from University of Memphis, Tennessee.
