Hurvin Anderson, Peter's: Sitters II, 2009

About

Following the success of Hurvin Anderson: Backdrop at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, the artist's major solo show will now tour to Canada's Art Gallery of Ontario. We are delighted to continue our support of the exhibition by extending the loan of Peter's Sitter 2. The painting features a common barbershop scene encountered during the artist's upbringing in the Afro-Caribbean community of Birmingham, England. It will be shown alongside works drawing on many aspects of Anderson's career, including work produced during a residency in Trinidad, diaristic photographs, and rarely seen sculptural work. This show marks the artist's first major solo show in Canada and will continue until 21 August 2016. Further information is available on the Art Gallery of Ontario website.
